A Cursillo (a Spanish word, pronounced "ker - see - o", which means "a short course in Christian community living") is a three day learning, sharing, inspirational experience of living in a Christian community. The Cursillo objective is sought by involving men and women in all dimensions of the social environment who are leaders with influence on others and to bring them to a fuller understanding of their relationship with Christ, the Church and their mission. Cursillo is an instrument of renewal. It is attempting to provide a form of perseverance in the Christian life for men and women of the Church. The Cursillo conviction is that the primary purpose in life is to alter and change a world that is predominantly non-Christian. The Cursillo is a method of both Christianizing one's environment and the developing of one's spirituality. It provides a means for Christian growth which is begun with our Baptism and highlighted during a three day weekend. Cursillo fits into the Church structure and is one of the many movements of the Abiding Savior Community Church
Just what is Cursillo Leaders School and why should we attend?
Christians are given a brief history of the Lutheran Cursillo Movement and are given the purpose of the Movement and the Cursillo Method. The purpose or goal of the movement is to make the Christian community more active in their home church, neighborhoods, work environment and other places where people live the greater part of their lives while on this earth. Its immediate purpose is to provide an understanding and conviction concerning what is fundamental for being a Christian and to strengthen individuals to live out the understanding supported by Christian Community life. Those who attend Leaders School will become eligible to sponsor others on a Cursillo Weekend and/or serve on an upcoming Cursillo Weekend.
